• How much do you charge?
Depending on what type of case you have, you would retain us either on a contingency fee basis or at our hourly rates. If your case is taken on a contingency fee basis, you pay nothing up front and only pay a percentage of your settlement amount if your case settles or your judgment amount if we are successful at trial. If your case is taken on an hourly fee basis, we typically ask for a retainer to be paid at the time you engage (hire) us to represent you. A retainer is like a deposit; it is held in our Client Trust account and is used to pay portions of your bill as time is billed to you. If there are ever unused portions of your retainer at the end of the matter, or if you decide to terminate our engagement, we will promptly return these unused amounts to you. We can further discuss our engagement process, fees, and billing procedures during your initial consultation. Back to Top

  • Do you also practice Mediation?
Yes. Mediation is a large and growing part of our firm and is being strongly encouraged by many members of the RI Judiciary. When you retain us to mediate your Family Law, Corporate, Real Estate, Civil, or other dispute, you hire us as mediators and not as attorneys. The main difference is that mediators work with all sides of a dispute to help guide the parties toward reaching a cost-effective and mutually-beneficial solution, while an attorney is hired by one party to represent that party's interests only. All of our attorneys and staff are Certified Mediators and have completed a 40-hour training course in mediation at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island. Mediation is a process that is becoming more and more popular today with parties involved in all types of disputes. It can potentially save parties hundreds, even thousands, of dollars and avoid the hassle and expense of litigation. Depending on the clients' needs, we also can bring in experts from other fields to assist with the mediation process, including Certified Financial Planners, Accountants, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Therapists, and other specialists as needed. To learn more about how Mediation might be the best option for you, please contact us at (401) 423-3390. Back to Top
